Hello, this is my first time trying to install a virtual machine, and I don't seem to be doing very well. I have installed VMware workstation player 15, and I am trying to set up CentOS (8.0.1905) as my first virtual machine. However, whenever I try to install the OS, I get the error message below (log file attached to thread).

Host OS is Windows 10 home (fully updated)
CPU is an i7-8700K
Motherboard is an ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-H
I have enabled the CPU virtualisation in the BIOS (as part of initial VMware player installation), the PC has been powered up and down a number of times since initial installation and BIOS edit. I have downloaded the iso file from a few different mirrors, in the small chance of file corruption. The only oddity I can see is that even though the downloaded CentOS is version 8, the VMware player pre-selects CentOS 5 or earlier (CentOS is not a selectable option in the OS list).
I have had a look for other answers in the forum, and I saw one about altering a setting in VMware player (File>Preferences) that related to a preferred virtualisation software, but having checked, that setting does not appear to be available in VMware workstation player 15. I have tried another 'solution' that asked for SMC.Version ="0" to be added, and that did not fix the issue (additional line of code has now been removed).
