Clicking "Cycle multiple monitors" in VMware Player 5 has no effect.
I just upgraded to VMware Player 5. I rebooted my system and installed VMware tools in my Windows 8 Release Preview virtual machine. The screen resolution within the virtual machine is correct.
When using VMware Player 4, I could click the monitor icon on control bar and the Player would occupy both monitors. This does not work with VMware Player 5.
My configuration is as follows:
- Dell Optiplex 980 (Intel i7 860) with 16GB RAM
- ATI Radeon HD 4550 display adapter
- ATI Radeon HD 4550 display adapter
- (2) Two Dell U2410 monitors in Portrait Configuration (1200x1920 resolution)
- Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit
- VMware Player 5.0.0 build-812388
- Windows 8 Release Preview VM build in VMware 4 Player
- VM has installed: VMware Tools for Windows Version 9.2.0, build-799703
- VM's screen resolution is set to 1200x1920 -- display is in portrait configuration
- VM has installed: VMware Tools for Windows Version 9.2.0, build-799703
I have seen one other reference to this issue by ShadeAnalyzer, but ShadeAnalyzer did not appear to have updated VMware Tools within the VM so I do not know it that contributed to the problem in that instance.
