VMware-player-15.1.0-13591040 and CloudReady-Home-v72.4-x64.ova install??

$

0

Can anyone help me get these installed?  I have successfully done it in the past ONCE.  Got lucky and it worked.  Suddenly started having serious mouse problems and uninstalled/removed both.  I am suspecting W10-64 1903 may have something to do with it.  So, I am not 'new at this', but certainly not experienced and it worked for so long, I really don't recall how I did it.

First thing I notice is Player doesn't appear to offer the installation of a .ova file.  I kinda remember it did, but I don't see it.  Anyway, I am starting with these two files on my desktop.  Neither one has even been clicked on yet.

ANY help is appreciated in advance, even if it 'just gets me started'.

Thank you again .. in advance.

PS:  The Player file seems to be a 32-bit product.  The ova is 64 bit as well as my laptop.  I don't know if that is a good thing, bad thing, or doesn't matter.  The download of Player did not offer an option of either architecture .. specifically.

I tried to notice in task manager why the guest freezes up, perhaps it runs out of RAM or high CPU usage ? But I don't see any high spikes. I am not sure what else to do, its becoming very annoying to use it like this.

Thanks

windows 10 vm will not pick up usb drive

I'm using vmware 12.5.5 player with a windows 10 32bit virtual machine and it will not pick up a usb drive. The icon at the top rh corner shows the usb drive is connected but there is no drive in device manager, no drive in disk management and nothing in windows explorer. I've tried completely uninstalling vmware tools and installing the latest tools -  VMware-tools-windows-10.3.10-12406962.iso but nothing works and I've been wrestling with this for a week. I have other vm's like a windows 7 one and that picks up a usb drive fine. Thanks for any help.

Problem with Millennium build 2348

Hello.

Recently I installed a beta build of Windows ME - build 2348, also known as Developer Release 2. I set the BIOS date, the install went normally, but, after install, I'm greeted with an hourglass icon next to my cursor. I can move the mouse, but that's basically all I can do.

My VM config is:

256 MB of RAM

1 processor

4 GB IDE hard disk

IDE CD-ROM with 2348 CD image in

Floppy drive with 98 SE bootdisk image in

Auto-detect sound card

Auto-detect display

OS set on Windows Me

I hope that this community is better than VirtualBox community and this community can help with betas.

Any possible help will be appreciated.

New to VMWare Workstation 15 Player

I installed Workstation Player 15 on my new desktop computer running Windows 10 64bit. I want to run a virtual desktop with my old laptop which runs Windows 7 32bit. I thinks I created a Windows 7 file by installing the Windows 7CD. I then connect the laptop hard drive to desktop via a USB connection, Windows 10 sees the drive but cannot access the information on the drive to I guess copy to the Virtual drive I created.

Please help,

Install VMware tools is grayed out on XP VM

The Windows XP SP3 virtual machine is essentially useless because I can't get access to my LAN.  And (apparently), I cant get access to my LAN because it is not possible to Install VMware Tools, because that option is grayed out under Player/Manage.

This is in VMware Workstation 15 Player, if that makes any difference.

I sure would appreciate some help making this work.

Thanks,

-Mark

Host DHCP renewal causes guest network hiccup

$

Hi,

I'm using Workstation Player 12.5.2 build-4638234 (latest?) on an Ubuntu 16.04 (4.4.0-57-generic), with an Ubuntu 16.04 (same) guest. The wifi network I'm connecting to has a small (5 mins) DHCP lease time. (This setting is out of my control.) As a result, the host renews the DHCP config quite often (2-5 mins), and every time it does, the guest experiences a small network disconnect. This causes, for instance, a web browser running on the guest to often report pages as unavailable. This is very annoying, and it's something that doesn't happen with a browser running on the host. I'm trying to understand if there's a way to avoid such "hiccups". Specifically, why does the guest network adapter have to go down&up for every such event?? Thanks!

My detailed network settings are below:

- The host uses a wifi connection, managed by NetworkManager, with DHCP.

- The VM has 2 virtual network adapters, one NAT and one host-only. Both are set to use fixed IPs. The host-only adapter has no issues. Here is the config for the NAT adapter:

# /etc/vmware/vmnet8/dhcpd/dhcpd.conf

allow unknown-clients;
default-lease-time 1800;                # default is 30 minutes
max-lease-time 7200;                    # default is 2 hours
subnet 192.168.71.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
        range 192.168.71.128 192.168.71.254;
        option broadcast-address 192.168.71.255;
        option domain-name-servers 192.168.71.2;
        option domain-name localdomain;
        default-lease-time 1800;                # default is 30 minutes
        max-lease-time 7200;                    # default is 2 hours
        option netbios-name-servers 192.168.71.2;
        option routers 192.168.71.2;
}
host vmnet8 {
        hardware ethernet 00:50:56:C0:00:08;
        fixed-address 192.168.71.1;
        option domain-name-servers 0.0.0.0;
        option domain-name "";
        option routers 0.0.0.0;
}

- In the guest, both adapters are set to use static IPs through NetworkManager:

# /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/NAT\ Network

...

[ipv4]
address1=192.168.71.10/24,192.168.71.2
dns=192.168.71.2;
dns-search=
method=manual
...

- Here is what I see in syslog during DHCP renewal, apart from other NM-related messages:

Windows 10 VMware player "Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to" and "Error while powering on: Internal error"

Hello

Last week I started to get 2 types of error messages "Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to" and "Error while powering on: Internal error". All of my VMs are not starting and I also can't start a new one

I tried the solution from https://vinfrastructure.it/2019/09/vmware-workstation-issue-cannot-find-a-valid-peer-process-to-connect-to/  but it is not working for me.

Does anybody else get the same errors?

My VMware player version is:  15.0.4 build-12990004

Host OS: Windows 10, 64-bit  (Build 17134) 10.0.17134

Thanks

I've installed the vmware remote console on my ubuntu 18.04 machine, but it doesn't work.

Whenever I try to open a console, it pops up a window saying:

Unable to connect to the MKS: Could not locate vmware-authd executable.

Vista & VMware Tools

When I try to install vmware tools on a Vista VM running on VMPlayer it tells me it can't manually install while "easy install" is running.  The Vista installation is complete, don't know why it thinks easy install is still running.  Any ideas?

VPN work around!

I have used VirtualBox and I know I can perform this function there, however i am unhappy with virtual box in general. So i will lay out what I am trying to do.

I am a Developer/Consultant, sometimes I have to us VPN's to access the customers systems when I am working on their products. However when I do so sometimes they kill my personal internet connection to anything else in the world. I want to bypass this, by hosting the VPN whether it is via adding a virtual NIC or something else. I want to still able able to work on my actual computer performing other tasks while being able to connect to the VPN and only have their network control effect the Virtual Machine.

This the only thing that is stopping me from purchasing this product right now. If there was a trial option I would have tried it myself.

Thanks in advance.

Adding 2nd Hard Disk to Guest

Hello All,

Host: Windows 10 Pro

Guest: OpenSuSE

I am attempting to give my Linux Guest OS access to the SD Card slot on my laptop. I followed the instructions found at the link below, which shows how to add the SD Card slot as a 2nd Hard Disk. But, when I do this, the Guest does NOT boot. I just get a black screen as soon as I hit Play to start the Guest, and I never see the VMWare Bios screen or anything like that. Almost appears as if it's trying to boot to the second Hard Disk, which is currently an empty SD Card.

https://www.htpcguides.com/how-to-use-sd-card-reader-in-vmplayer-and-vmworkstation/

As soon as I shutdown the Guest, and remove the 2nd HDD the Guest boots up just fine. So I'm not sure what the issue is? I've tried adding it as IDE, SATA and SCSi devices, but the result is the same for all, Guest doesn't boot with 2nd HDD added to VM Settings.

One last thing I'm noticing, after I remove the 2nd HDD and boot up the Guest. If I look at Removable Devices, there is a device available called "Realtek USB3.0-CRW". If I select that device and click "Connect" to connect it to the Guest, I notice that the SDCard disappears from the Windows 10 Host's Disk Management. Almost as if it's disconnecting the SD Card from the Host and adding it to the Guest. But, running fdisk in the Guest doesn't show the SD Card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in Advance,

Matt

vmplayer does not start: An up-to-date "libaio" or "libaio1" package from your system is preferred.

Dear all,

I am on Debian 9 and vmware player 14.

I open a shell and execute the following:

% vmplayer

The following output is displayed:

> [AppLoader] Use shipped Linux kernel AIO access library.

> An up-to-date "libaio" or "libaio1" package from your system is preferred.

A vmware window is also displayed (see attached document)

Does anyone had this problem before? Can someone suggest me smth to solve the problem?

Thanks.
