Hi,

I have an XP VM that has/had multiple issues (i believe since the update to windows 10 64bit 1903).

the first issue was when I tried to open communication to the serial port the player is freeze, i have installed the vmtools again which seems to solve this issue.

the second issue is when I connect plc rs232 to USB adapter to the VM itself the VM is frozen (nothing other than restart the host windows 10 64bit 1903).

did anyone encounter this issues and managed to solve them?

My VM ware was working and I accepted a few updates from Windows 10 and I am not able to ping the host any more.  The VM will start up but the website will not work.  Any suggestions?

I checked the firewall through MacAfee.

I just upgraded to windows 10 pro from win 7 pro and performance is awful and mouse movement is sluggish.

Workstation Player 15 criticall low on free space dialog box on power up

I have been using the ubuntu 18.04 version of workstation player for the past 4 months to power my window 7 vm called "Eagle Tech".  Starting around October 1, when I try to power up my virtual machine I am getting the following question

The file system upon which '/home/ken/vmware/EagleTech' resides is critically low on free space. Allowing this virtual machine to continue may cause it to fail unexpectedly. VMware Player has paused this virtual machine because the disk on which the virtual machine is stored is almost full. To continue, free an additional 549.5 MB of disk space.

When I press continue it just loops back to the dialog box.  When I press power off.  The VM player shuts down.

I have checked all my drive and there of gigs of free space.  Any help trying to debug this would be greatly appreciated.

Can't install VMware Tools on Windows 2012 Server R2 guest

I've just installed Player 15 (fresh download from vmware.com) on a new Windows 10 x64 laptop.

I created a 2012 R2 guest with an ISO freshly downloaded from Microsoft.  VMware tools did not install.  Don't think it auto-mounted the Tools CD.

I tried Player > Manage > Install VMware tools but it's grayed out.

I mounted windows.iso from my VMware install directory and ran setup64.exe.  It says it can't verify KB2919355 is installed.  Windows Update says there are no more updates for this ISO image.

How can I install VMware Tools in this scenario!??

Screen resolution adjustement not working in VMware

The only way I have to adjust the screen resolution is through the Windows 10 guest OS. Unfortunately the settings are not set when the guest OS is supended or shutted down and It is anoying to set the resolution every time the guest OS is started.

On one site I tried to configure the screen resolution directly in the VMware settings: Virtual Machine -> Virtual Machine Settings -> Hardware -> Displayed. However the options are not editable probably because the Hardware graphic acceleration is not available. I receive a message saying so "Hardware graphics acceleration not available" when the virtual machine is started.

It is suggested to update the openGL. I searched on how to update the openGL in Debian but I could not find an easy method.

This is the graphic card on my laptop: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller:

Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)

This is the openGL installed on my laptop:

OpenGL vendor string: Intel Open Source Technology Center

OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Sandybridge Mobile

OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 3.30

Does anyone know how to set the Vmware Screen resolution adjustment automatically i.e. That the virtual machine screen resolution adjusts automatically to the best display settings?

VMPlayer closes(crashes?) when loading any VM (Linux Mint)

Fairly new install of Linux Mint, 19.1

Brand new install of VMware Workstation 15 Player

Install went off without any hitch, player loads fine, but I'm unable to load any VMs.  It appears to create the VM but the program closes out/crashes whenever I try to load a VM.  If I load from CLI I get initial error of:

Does vmware workstation 15.5 player support Ryzen 7-3750H from AMD?

hi!

I installed vmware workstation 15.5 player and prepared CentOS 6.9 64bit.The moment the power is turned on, the following message is output and the drive does not operate.

======================================================================================================================

Error while powering on: This host supports AMD-V, but AMD-V is disabled.

AMD-V might be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or the host has not been power-cycled since changing this setting.

(1) Verify that the BIOS/firmware settings enable AMD-V.

(2) Power-cycle the host if this BIOS/firmware setting has been changed.

(3) Power-cycle the host if you have not done so since installing VMware Player.

(4) Update the host's BIOS/firmware to the latest version.

This host does not support "AMD RVI" hardware assisted MMU virtualization.

Module 'CPUIDEarly' power on failed.

Failed to start the virtual machine.

======================================================================================================================

I use a laptop. It is FX505DU of ASUS TUF GAMING.Notebook manufacturers say AMD-V is enabled.Notebook makers say vmware products may not support some AMD cpu.

Keyboard Not Working after VMWare Conversion

Hello,

I'm trying to run a VMware Conversion of an old laptop as a backup. I've run a VMware conversion and converted it to a vm 9 image file.

When it gets opened in VMware Player everything works except for the keyboard inputs. The only way I can type on the screen is using either the on screen keyboard or connecting in with TeamViewer.

Looking in Device Manager shows that the following error.

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Has anyone come across this before and know if a solution?

Thanks

Peter Sheridan

VMware Player Pro 15.5 - Windows 10 guest running on Server 2012 Host only connect once, the only fix is to restart the guest

$

After a recent windows update to a Server 1016 R2, my virtual guest machines (Windows 10) hosted on the server would only permit Windows 10 RDP sessions once. The fix is to restart the guest, however if the session is disrupted or logged off the second and additional attempts will not connect. Again restating the guest will permit one session.

I updated to Player 15.5 and then to 15.5 Pro and the issue is ongoing.

Thanks,

Virtualization and security

Hi,

I have a question to which I am unable to find an answer online.

Is it safer/more secure to have virtualization feature in BIOS disabled and only run 32-bit OS in VMWare Player VS having virtualization feature in BIOS enabled and using VMWare Player with 32 and 64-bit OS?

I will be testing some anti-malware products in Windows 10 and really don't want to get my main/host OS infected.

Thank you.

Linux Can't Connect on Starbucks WiFi

Hi

i noticed that a linux live ISO (arch) can connect to internet if my pc is connected to my cellphone WiFi hotspot.

But cannot connect to internet if my pc is connected to starbucks wifi.

This thread says to "change the setting from automatic to specifically targeting the physical network interface".

Cannot connect to the internet. Network error on Vmware

But i cannot see any way to do that in my Player 15. i can't find the "bridged to" picker.

Any fix?

Hi all,

just installed vmplayer 15.5. -14665864.x86_64 on Linux Ubuntu 18.04 (updated) system, kernel 5.0.0-32

on a Lenovo M93P tiny thinkcentre (Intel® Core™ i5-4570T CPU @ 2.90GHz × 4)

Clean install.

I can create a VM  but as I start it for the first time (click power button) to install the guest system the player and silently implodes.

Starting in a terminal I get the following errors:
